Upcycled Japanese slubby 100% cotton napkins hand dyed. Finished with our signature gold edge overlock hem. This fabric uses a custom Maruwa slub yarn that was developed using old discarded spinning machines. The discarded spinning machines are slightly defected but still very much functional. Through trial and error the machines were back into use to create a subtle naturally slubbing yarn that gives the fabric a nice soft/ subtle surface texture.
We work with a dye and fiber artist in San Diego who hand dyes all of our fabrics in small batches to achieve custom colors. No two pieces will be alike and slight variations in where the dye sits may occur. These variations are intended upon and part of the process and design of each piece. The dye and color may fade over time and is taken into consideration when designing each piece. These truly are pieces of art and any imperfections is part its beauty and uniqueness.
